Making the world greener is in our blood. Literally and figuratively. We are always looking for ways to make our business more sustainable. On every level. We take good care of our plants, our people and the world around us.

Sustainable business developments

MPS certificate

The Environment Project Ornamental Cultivation (MPS) is a monitoring tool that allows companies to turn the right buttons to reduce their environmental impact. With the aim of making the horticultural sector even more sustainable. We record our consumption of fertilisers, plant protection products and energy through MPS. This allows us to measure how sustainably we produce now and gain insight into how we can become more sustainable.

Recycled pots

Since 2019, we are using grey pots made from 100% recycled post-consumer plastic. Because of the grey color they can always be reused. This is in contrast to the black pots that the sorting system does not recognize, because the conveyor belts on which they lie are also black.

Sustainable relationships

We do not go for the short term, but invest in sustainable relationships with our employees, customers and suppliers. We do this by listening to specific wishes and taking it a step further. A pleasant working atmosphere is important to us and we have a lot to do with it.

We use bees to pollination our Skimmias. In the spring there are therefore 4 or 5 hives in our greenhouses.

Biological combatants

Since 2010, we use biological controls where possible to combat diseases and pests. For example, we use predatory mites and bales in the cutting greenhouse, which eat the harmful soil larvae. The predatory mites also fight harmful spider mites in the Skimmia.

Reuse water

We collect the rainwater that falls on our greenhouses and fields. With this we spray our plants in the greenhouses and on the outdoor fields. We also collect and reuse the excess water. We’ve been doing this since the ’90s. It prevents fertilizers and plant protection agents from entering the surface water.
